I sCREAM, you sCREAM, we all scream for ICE CREAM

So a few months ago you might remember me posting some pics of Holden with the cutest little sad face ever, when him and daddy were sharing an ice cream and daddy took the last bite!  How dare he right?  Well we typically don't give Holden sweets, cheerios is about the sweetest snack he gets.  So when Kristin and Hunter came to visit this weekend, we thought that was a special enough occasion for a treat.  PLUS, when Hunter was so sweet enough to ask what flavor Holden wanted, I could resist but to say it was OK for Holden to have his VERY OWN ice cream cone versus sharing one with mommy or daddy.  Needless to say, he ENJOYED EVERY BITE!

I thought I took a longer video of Holden enjoying his ice cream, but just have this short clip.  I think you get the picture though, Holden is definitely his daddy's boy.  Can avoid all the cake and cookies in the world, but ice cream never stands a chance with my boys.

LoTs Of LoVe,

Weeeeeeee!

I'm a little behind on posting some stuff, not that unusual these days.  Holden keeps us pretty busy.  He has grown so much.  Just a few updates:
We had to visit the pediatrician the other day, cause Holden had been running a temp for most of a day and the following morning, a little out of the norm for him.  Typically he only has a mild fever when he is cutting a tooth.  Dr. Kim said probably nothing more than a cold and the teething (he cut 3 new teeth this past week)  Eeekkkk!  Said just to keep an eye on him.  His temp did finally break, but poor little guy has the worst allergies.  Any who, he's back at all his mischief.

Grammy (my mom) bought him a castle slide for his birthday and with this beautiful weather we've been having we have really enjoyed being outside.  He's not quite big enough yet to climb up himself, so mommy and daddy stay busy making sure he doesn't fall off.

I also took a few days off a few weeks ago to just get things caught up at the house, laundry, cleaning and a little gardening.  I am NOT A GREEN THUMB at all!  I've tried very hard each year to keep our flower beds or pots full of pretty flowers, but they never seem to stay alive.  BUT, I have managed to keep an ivy alive since receiving it as a gift when Holden was born.  I know, I know.  Please hold the applause, it is just an ivy; the hardest plant to kill.  BUT, my flowers are doing pretty good so far.  We'll see how this Texas heat treats them.

Of course, the real reason I think they will survive is because I had a helper this year.  The best little helper a mommy could ask for.

Spring is off to a wonderful start.

Bathtub Fun

So Holden has been taking a bath in his blow up rubber ducky for a while now, but we decided that he was getting too big for that and was really missing out on the fun and excitement of taking a bath with full range of the open tub.  So we went and bought some of those bathtub slip things, found some really bright colored ones and a really cool tropical fish spout cover.  Needless to say, Holden LOVES his new found freedom.

Silly boy, cant wait for summer to get here for some fun in the sun and pool!

Toofies

This is a little late, but Holden finally has a toofy!  Actually, he has 1 1/4 now, almost 2 full toofies.  The first one finally popped through on Jan. 30th.  On the top too.  Its hard to snag a pic of them, but here is one I was able to capture the purly whites.

Happy Valentine's Day Year after Year

For Valentine's Day, Holden made pretzel buttons for his friends at Ms Linda's and made homemade valentine's for mommy, daddy and Grammy.  Its hard to believe that this time last year he was only a few weeks old.

Happy 1st Birthday to my Baby Boy

Man, it seems just like yesterday.....I remember everything about that day.  It was early, like 2 AM when I woke up and realized that my water broke.  Me of course, had to google it to make sure that it was actually my water that had broke.  I remember when I wore that morning to the hospital (grey Gap sweat pants, a purple tank top and my white hoodie).  I was so nervous and my stomach was in knots.  I still remember being in the bathroom putting on the hospital gown, overhearing Chuck ask the nurse, "so is this really happening?  Are we here to stay."  And the nurse replying, "You're not leaving here without a baby."

Funny, everyone always tells you how quickly time passes, how quickly they grow up.  I never knew it to be true until now.  This has been the most amazing year.  Watch the miracle they we brought into this world grow and develop has been the most eye opening experience.  To see the world through his eyes and to be there loving him every step of the way.  The Lord knew exactly what he was doing when he chose Chuck and I to be his parents.  We prayed so hard for him and we continue to ask the Lord to watch over and protect him each and every day.

To my baby boy, what a blessing you have been.  Mommy and Daddy are so very proud of all your accomplishments in your short little 1 year.  What a joy you are in our lives and how we thank God every day for you.  Our dreams came true that morning, January 24, 2010 at 11:37 AM, when we became a mommy and a daddy.  We love you so much sweet boy.  Happy Birthday.

LoOk OuT....wE hAvE a WaLkeR on our HaNdS!

Holden took his first "independent" steps today!  He has been walking around things, holding our hands and walking behind toys........but today we had take off.  Apparently all we needed to do was ask him to go get his Zuppy and off he went.  He's taken a total of 6 steps before falling.  He is growing up so fast.  Hard to believe that he'll be one in 2 weeks!  Eeeeekkkk!

In this one, he is walking towards Zeus.

And of course in this one, walking towards his favorite girl....his mommy!

Congrats mommy's pumpkin pie!  You are growing up way too fast for mommy, but I'm loving each day that you learn and discover new things.

Love,
