15 Months

Holden had his 15 month check up this past week.  He is growing up so fast, each day that passes makes me more and more proud of him.  He learns so much and so quickly.

15 month stats:

26 lbs. 6 oz.
32" tall
18 1/2" head circumference

What Holden is doing these days:

  • No picker eater here, Holden LOVES almost all foods.  Unless it gets cold, he'll eat anything.  Loves his milk too!
  • He does knuckle bumps and high five
  • If you ask, "Holden, how many are you?" he'll hold up both of his pointer fingers to let you know that he is "1"
  • He is still doing the motions to itsy bitsy spider and has now started swinging his arms back and forth when we sing "row, row, row your boat."
  • Holden has discovered that his legs not only allow him to walk/run, but they also allow him to climb.  Lord help me!  He can almost climb up his Little Tykes castle slide, which scares me to death!
  • He had his first black eye and busted lip this month.  Both within the same week, first he tripped over my shoe at the Shops of Highland Village and face planted, then a few days later whacked himself in the check with a toy in the car, which lead to a black eye.  All boy!
  • Holden loves to play ball, rolling it, throwing it or his best attempt at kicking it.  He's getting better at the kicking part, but only outside.
  • He also strums his bottom lip like a guitar, he does this ALL THE TIME now.  Making all sorts of noise.
  • He really hasn't started talking much yet, but I know he will when he is ready.  The fact that he knows so much without talking just amazes me!  He is so smart and picks up on things very quickly.
  • And most of all, he is still the best little love bug.  This boy loves to give hugs and kisses!  And he is a ladies man. Any girl that looks his way or gives him attention, he thinks they are looking for sugars, so he starts sticking his next out to give them away.
I'm sure there are many other things that he has started doing since turning "1" but he keeps us so busy its hard to keep track of everything.  We're just so blessed to see the world through his little eyes, nothing else matters.

You and Me Goin' Fishin' in the Dark

These were just too cute not to post.  Holden received a fishing pole from his Uncle Jearold and Aunt Cari a few weeks ago, but we had put it up until he is a little older.  Well with everything having to be out of the hall closet to install the wood floors, someone found the fishing pole and decided that it was NOT supposed to be stored away for when he was bigger, but in fact he IS big enough now to know how to properly use it.  So, fishing is what he did.  All around the house.

My sweet boy, I'll let him catch me any day; I don't mind spending 30 minutes untangling the line either.

I guess now is as good a time as any to show off the new floors too!  I LOVE my new wood floors.

Please excuse the dust particles in the air or on the lens.
And you can see Holden in the corner of this one, WITH the fishing pole.

All we need now is baseboards and some fresh paint on the trim and we're good to go.  I'd also like to take this time to thank my wonderful hubby!  He took a week off work, which he typically does around this time to ensure that he is off for opening day of the Texas Ranger's; but typically he gives back and few days and works.  Not this year.  This year he trimmed all the bushes, power washed the fence and house, stained the fence and supervised the flooring install.  Not bad!  I guess I should take pics of the fence too.  Maybe later.  Good night for now, I'm tired.

What a FUN Easter we had!  Holden was so fun this year!  So exciting to see the world through his little eyes.  Getting to walk by his side as he experiences new things is such an amazing feeling.  I love being this little boys Momma.

Holden spent Sunday morning hunting Easter eggs all over the house before Church.  I had put money in his eggs because there really isn't anything else you can fit in them besides candy and we don't give him sweets or candy, so money was the next best thing.  Plus, coins inside plastic eggs are awesome noise makers for little boys, or so I discovered Sunday morning.  They also make a really loud exploding noise when thrown against our new wood floors!  The floors were just installed Thursday/Friday, so everything echoes since we haven't bought any area rugs.  We had a very LOUD start to our Sunday morning.  But Holden enjoyed every minute of it.

Hunting Easter eggs

In Sunday school he learned that Jesus is the Lion and the Lamb.  And that he died for our sins.  Holden is such a sweet boy, he even had his "The Story of Easter" book in his backpack.  Didn't know it until after Church.

After Church we headed over to some friends to enjoy Easter lunch and hunt eggs.  The rain didn't ruin our fun times, just delayed them a little.  Holden was all pumped and ready to go the minute we got there.  He could barely wait......
Giving the evil eye to Toby.........these are my eggs

Holden did not trust anyone with his Easter bucket.  He carried it with him everywhere.  You would have thought he was seriously injured when I tried to take it from him to change his diaper.  I've never heard him cry out like he did.  Mommy did not like it!  Of course, he won, I just worked around a bucket to change the diaper.

So proud, the first one that he stubled across

YEA!  I found another one!
Look at that determination on his face, "I will get the most
eggs in MY bucket!"

Pink!  Pink is for girls!

Thank you Lord for a beautiful day and for sending your son to die on the cross, so that we may be forgiven.  What a blessing it is to have Jesus in our lives and for the forgiveness he gives us each day.

Thankful,

FiRsT sWiM oF tHe SuMmEr!

We are very excited that our very dear friends built an awesome backyard oasis complete with a heated pool!  After we napped on our "Family Sick Day," we spent the second half of our day with Uncle Cari and Aunt Jearold (yes, this is way wrong, but it never fails, Chuck and I both always mix it up, kinda funny).  Holden especially enjoyed his fun in the sun, splashing, kicking and "trying" to drink all the water in the pool.  Wont be surprised if his sodium levels increase slightly this summer.  Don't worry, I wont intentionally allow him to drink the pool water, but he does think he is a puppy!

He drinks the water in the tub, the pool and today I caught him on all fours, about to lick water out of the dogs water bowl.  What is it with this kid and licking any and all water!  Cracks me up.

Anyway, back to our pool fun.  I was worried that Holden might be a little timid this year around the water, but not so much!  He goes right in.  So, I'll be looking into swim lessons very quickly if daddy doesn't teach him to swim first.  Chuck is dead set on teaching him to swim, so we'll see.

I'm sexy and I know it

Trying to drink the water.
I think that catches me up.  April is a very busy month for us.  We're going to try to see the Easter bunny, then we have an Easter Egg Hunt, a birthday party for a cousin, a 50th wedding anniversary party and I'm sure so many other things!  Keep an eye out for what we do next!

Family "sick" Day

So I hate to admit it, but we played hookie from church yesterday.  I know, not a good example to set.  But, we had such a wonderful day hanging out as a family.  Our Sunday's are normally spent as a family; we begin at church and lunch, then the grocery store, maybe a nap and then some fun in the yard.  But since daddy works most Saturday's its normally Holden and mommy at the park, running errands, playing, etc.  So we wanted to take advantage of the lovely day and hang out together.

We started with a good breakfast, the most important meal of the day.  We shared eggs, biscuits with gravy and fruit.  Then we headed off to Kids Kastle playground where Holden climbed on every step, ladder, bench, bridge, you name it he tried to climb it.

Then, Holden decided that wanted to go down the winding slide and of course, it is not one that mommy or daddy could stand and guide him down while we stood next to it, oh no, he  had to go on the one that would require mommy or daddy to go down with him.  Guess who lost that battle????  Yea, mommy.  But who can resist those baby blues and those chubby fingers pointing and saying "ugh, ugh."  So down we went.......

Fortunately for mommy, Holden is not to the age where he wants to do things over and over and over, once was enough this visit.

After climbing on everything and going down the big winding slide, swings were next on the agenda.  He loves to swing, we swing all the time.  When we go for a walk or a bike ride, we always stop and swing for a bit.

Mommy pushes a little slower and lower than daddy does.  Daddy pushes really high, which Holden just laughs while mommy sits and bites her nails....

After the park, we went home just to restock our water and milk supply, grab a few photo props and off to the blue bonnets we went.  Last year we took family pics near my office in Los Colinas, there is such a great area there to take pics but since we were close to home, we found an area in Flower Mound.

After bluebonnet pics, we went to Sam's Club and got a few things that we needed AND we got two new books, Elmo's Rockin' Road Trip with attached "ipod" and sweet night night book.  We were pretty beat by then, so home we went for a nap.

Family "sick" day was such an awesome day!  I enjoy every minute of every day that I get to spend being a wife and mommy to my sweet boys.  Until next time.....lots of love.......

First bike ride with Mommy

I've been talking about wanting an infant bike seat so that Holden can ride with me, especially since the weather is so nice.  Chuck surprised me the other day by bringing one home!  I had him install it right away.  It took a few days before we can put it to use as we first had to find the right safety helmet for our little tooter bug.  It had to be cool, not silly and SAFE!  We finally found one we liked a Dick's and to make sure it was snug, we tried it on and walked around for a bit before hitting the streets!

Once we knew it was a good fit, we buckled into our new bike seat and off we went.  WE LOVED IT!  I say we because I LOVE being able to exercise, while spending time with my little man.  Being able to be with him is most important so the idea that I can get a little workout in AND spend time with my angel boy is the best of both worlds.  And he loves being outside doing anything, so this is right up is alley too.  Even though he cannot tell me yet, I know he enjoys this time just as much as I do.  We have been on sooooo many bike rides the past few weeks I may need new tires for my bike!

Perfection!

LoVe BeInG a MoM,

I sCREAM, you sCREAM, we all scream for ICE CREAM

So a few months ago you might remember me posting some pics of Holden with the cutest little sad face ever, when him and daddy were sharing an ice cream and daddy took the last bite!  How dare he right?  Well we typically don't give Holden sweets, cheerios is about the sweetest snack he gets.  So when Kristin and Hunter came to visit this weekend, we thought that was a special enough occasion for a treat.  PLUS, when Hunter was so sweet enough to ask what flavor Holden wanted, I could resist but to say it was OK for Holden to have his VERY OWN ice cream cone versus sharing one with mommy or daddy.  Needless to say, he ENJOYED EVERY BITE!

I thought I took a longer video of Holden enjoying his ice cream, but just have this short clip.  I think you get the picture though, Holden is definitely his daddy's boy.  Can avoid all the cake and cookies in the world, but ice cream never stands a chance with my boys.

LoTs Of LoVe,
