Happy 6 Months

Where has the time gone!  It seems like only yesterday I was getting settled in the hospital to meet our little man for the first time and now he is 6 months old.  These 6 months have been the best adventure.  I fall more and more in love with Holden each day.  Seeing that sweet face each morning just gives life so much more meaning.  I cannot wait to see how he grows and changes each day.  I wish so much for him and pray that all his dreams come true.  Here are just a few things that you are in to at 6 months:

  • You are definitely not shy, you will smile at anyone or any thing.  Especially cute girls
  • You've been rolling over for a few weeks now, thankfully, cause those nights of waking up every few hours when you couldn't get turned back on your back were not fun! You're a tumbleweed now.
  • Quite time at our house is a thing of the past, you want to be heard.  You squeal, shriek, growl and laugh all the time.  Especially when mommy or daddy tickle you.  But, you have manners, you only share your loudest tones at home, but let the cat get your tongue when we're anywhere else.  Not that I'm complaining.
  • Your motor skills are getting more and more precise.  You can grab almost anything and pull as tight and hard as possible.  You love toys that make noise when you push and roll on them.
  • You're starting to sit up better on your own, but face plant rather quickly still, but we're working on it.
  • Siting in your highchair has given you a new found sense of empowerment.  You think if you bang loud and fast enough that mommy will bring your cereal quicker.  We'll see how that works out for ya.
  • We're still only eating rice and oatmeal cereal, but are super excited to see what Dr. Kim has in store for us at our 6 month check-up on Tuesday.
  • You had your first hair cut and you did so well.  Of course, Bree had nothing to do with your attention being on anything but her.  Such a ladies man already.
  • You really haven't started teething yet, but you slobber and drool like crazy, so I'm sure its only a matter of time.
Mommy and Daddy are so proud of you little man.  We ask each other every day and thank God that we were lucky enough to be chosen as your parents.  You are such a blessing in our lives.  Looking forward to many more milestones like this.

Mommy, where is my friend Jett?

Somebody's Sitting in their highchair!

Holden has been eating cereal for some time now, but we had just been sitting him in the bumbo or the bouncer.  Since he is starting to sit up a little better on his own we figured it was time to bring out the high chair.  Needless to say, like most new things, he LOVED it.  I'm not sure that I'm ready for him to start eating veggies and fruit yet though, especially after his new found skills:

Need I say more!  I'll definitely be investing in something to protect my floors.  Too bad I wont be able to cover the walls, ceiling and anything else that might stand in his way.

Mommy's love bug

I am so blessed to have such a sweet boy.  I think I might have a momma's boy on my hands.  Who says you can't be a tough guy and a momma's boy?  Fine by me.

We love to read books together

And tell each other secrets

How can you not be in love?  There are no words!  God is amazing!

Sweet angel

My boys.  Tooter bug and Zuppy

My boys love their Mommy.

Holden's Laugh

This is the sweetest sound in the whole world.  I could listen to this sweetness all day.

First Hair Cut

Holden was born with a head full of hair.  Unlike his momma who was bald forever.  We had trimmed the hair over his er when he was a few months old cause it had gotten so long.  We decided it was time for a little trim all over though.  The best way to describe his hair is like this, he has the peach fuzz baby hair, but then on the top its almost like he has a toupee.  Seriously, you could lift the hair up and there would be nothing underneath it but little baby hair.  Any who, our neighbor Jennifer manages a Sports Clips, so we figured she's really good with cutting boy hair; so we had her come to the house.  Holden did so well.  Fortunately Bree came too, Jennifer's daughter.  Like any other typical boy, he was mesmerized by her.

We didn't "cut" his hair, just trimmed it up so that we could actually style it again.

He is such a cutie pie!  After we got him all cleaned up he looked so handsome!  I could just eat him up.  Love my baby boy.

And, I didn't cry.  I did save all the little hairs though.  Well, maybe not ALL the hairs, but a good bit of them.  My little tooter bug is growing up.  Can't believe he will be 6 months old on Tuesday.

Happy 76th Birthday PawPaw

My PawPaw turned 76 yesterday, so after work Holden and I surprised him and GG (short for Great Grandmother).  It was such a wonderful evening.  I love seeing how my grandparents light up when he is around.  It's like they have this new energy.  I love these memories and I am so blessed that Holden has 3 great grandparents to watch him grow up.

Let's Go Rangers

Thanks to Jeff and Sandy, Holden got to experience his first Ranger's game in style, suite seats.  We had a really good time catching up with friends.  Holden loved it.  The a/c was nice too, best way to watch the game away from home, especially in this heat.

And they WON!  I think it was their littlest fan cheering them on that got them the win.

Grrrrrrrrrr!

Ok, so we're getting caught up now.  Last week on our way home, I kept hearing this noise coming from the backseat and I couldn't figure out what it was.  When we got home, Grammy came over to visit and we were playing in the floor with Holden.  It was then that I discovered the "noise."

We call it Holden's growl.  It is the funniest thing!  He does it all the time now.

You can't really hear the first growl, but the second time he does it you can definitely hear it.  Too funny!

My 1st Fourth of July

So, Holden's first 4th of July was a little on the low key side.  Mommy came down with strep throat earlier in the week, which put a damper on having too much fun; but we managed to still have a little fun.  We kicked off our weekend wearing our festive outfits to work/Ms. Linda's on Friday.

Followed by a nap with Mommy, cause Mommy was not feeling so well Friday afternoon.  We were saving all our energy for Fun in the Sun on Saturday.

I didn't take any pics from our small pool party we went to on Saturday or Sunday, but I have a few precious pics from Holden and Mommy day Monday.  Daddy played golf on the 4th and then joined some other friends at the pool while Mommy and Holden stayed home and rested.  I use the word rested lightly here, as Holden had other plans for our day of rest, it was more like day of NO rest.

All Holden wanted to do was play, play and play some more.  And that is just perfectly fine with this little momma.  I could sit and watch my little man all day.

We ended the night with cuddle time while we waited for Daddy to get home.  He is such a sweet baby.  I don't know what I did with my time before, but I know that ever moment I have know is cherished as every moment I spend with tooter bug is amazing.

Yum, that taste good

Nothing like cooling off on a hot summer night with a popsicle.

Caught in the Act- Happy 5 Months

I'm way behind on post, so bare with me.  Holden is almost 6 months, just so we know we're at.  So much is going on this summer I barely have time to even get on the computer once I'm home.  Little man is growing so fast.  He has learned so much over the past several weeks and has changed so much.  We are now fully un-swaddled, we have to keep an eye on him for tummy time as it is no longer just tummy time.  It is "wherever Holden wants to roll" time.  We went through the tummy upset of rice cereal and funny that we much rather prefer oatmeal cereal are are currently up to 3 tbs. in the am and 4 tbs. in the evening.  It took several weeks to get him back on schedule of sleeping through the night, but we survived!

During our attempts at night sleeping un-swaddled, we awoke to this one morning.....

Please note that he does have on the swaddle still, but BOTH arms are out and thumb is placed just perfectly in the mouth!  Yup, after this we figured the swaddle was now useless!  We definitely missed the swaddle for a few weeks until he got into a new sleep routine at night.

Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'

Holden mastered rolling over in all directions a few weeks ago.  This definitely help is night sleeping.  For a while he would roll to his tummy in the middle of the night, wake himself, get so mad cause he couldn't turn back over and would scream bloody murder until we came in and rolled him back over.  But, he finally figured it all out. I was worried there for a minute, but of course Grammy to the rescue with this very logical explanation:  "Tiara, he is just fine.  There's a lot of weight back there to be trying to roll over with." Wow, I feel so much better now!

More to come at 6 months post!
